Meet Your Farmers

Jordan Hoy

Founder, Microgreen Technician

Jordan is a proud U.S. Army veteran with a passion for business, food and community. He’s worn many hats over the years—playing rugby until 33, renovating properties in Boston’s Back Bay and South End, and spending three decades in finance as a business owner, commercial lender and business banker.

His entrepreneurial spirit led him to create and run a 13,000 sq. ft. indoor children’s entertainment center in Central Massachusetts, where he hosted over 8,500 birthday parties and welcomed nearly 150,000 visitors over ten years, closing in 2020. During this time, he provided first-job training for over 120 local teens.

With hands-on experience in the food industry, Jordan understands the challenges of running a successful food services business—everything from staffing and sourcing ingredients to maintaining high-quality standards. Now, he partners with chefs, managers and restaurant owners to bring fresh, locally grown microgreens to the table, ensuring a consistent, high-quality product every time.

Our Story…

One Tree Microgreens started as a simple pleasure and quickly grew into a deep-rooted passion. We’ve always loved growing vegetables—whether in the ground, in pots, in the house, or on a window-sill. As parents raising four children, we became increasingly mindful of what we were feeding our family—where it came from, how far it traveled, and how it was handled. Sourcing fresh, local produce was always a priority, but we knew we could do more.

The pandemic opened our eyes to the vulnerabilities in our food system. It became clear that food security wasn’t guaranteed, and we wanted to take action by growing food that was both nutritious and reliably available. In early 2021, a conversation with a friend in Nova Scotia sparked an idea—One Tree, Many Branches. While we didn’t have acres of farmland or even a greenhouse, we knew we needed a sustainable, consistent, and repeatable crop. That’s when we discovered microgreens—the nutrient-dense, flavor-packed superfood. Grown without pesticides or preservatives, harvested weekly, and eaten fresh; they were the perfect solution.

After months of research, trial and error, and conversations with farmers worldwide, Jordan began growing microgreens in a vertical, indoor, climate-controlled farm. At first, he shared his harvest with friends, family, and local teachers. By the summer of 2023, with demand rapidly growing, One Tree Microgreens was officially born. Today, we proudly provide fresh, local, and nutrient-rich microgreens 365 days a year, delivering them to homes, restaurants, and retailers within hours of harvest.

One Tree Microgreens continues to grow, branching out to serve more customers while staying true to our core values—sustainability, quality, and freshness.
